Maximizing the Listening Experience

Always providing music lovers with tools to enhance their listening experience, Rega released an easy-to-use and simple-to-operate Strobe Kit that measures if your turntable is playing at the optimal speed.

The kit comes with a 100 Hz pulsed light and a 180-line stroboscopic disc. To use, you simply need to place the stroboscopic disc on top of your turntable while it is playing at 33 ⅓ RPM. Hold the pulsed light 2-3 cm on top of the playing disc and determine if the stroboscopic disc is either moving clockwise, counterclockwise or if it looks like the lines are frozen or not moving. If the lines are not moving, that means that your turntable is playing at the right speed. If the lines are moving counterclockwise then the turntable is running too fast and if it’s counterclockwise, then it’s too slow. It’s also recommended to hold a pencil tip near the lines while it’s rotating to better determine the direction of the lines.
